We've just started ADR work on "The Fear of Dreaming", a great independent film.
It's an exciting new avenue for us and we're looking forward to watching the finished product. Working with the audio attached to moving images lets us stretch our knowledge and techniques in a new direction, which always keeps us striving for new levels of quality in our productions.
Congratulations to Skye Mundell, winner of Vancouver Island's Got Talent 2011!

The VIGT crew, including Craig from Oakstone, will be working with Skye over the next few months to get him ready for a showcase at "V" the Ultimate Variety Show at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas!
We've recently upgraded our I/O system to include a second HD192 unit. That means that we can handle 24 tracks of simultaneous I/O and mix through either our DP7 box or our Ghost console.
The change opens up some options for people who want to do mixes on our analog console, which provides different tonal characteristics from mixing "in the box".
Vancouver Island's Got Talent has posted their show dates for the series. You can check them out HERE

On Tuesday, January 12th, the 10 remaining Victoria Idol contestants will battle it out in a winner take all round to determine this year's champion!
Craig from Oakstone will be one of the 3 judges on the panel that chooses the winner.
After the winner is chosen, they will begin the writing/recording process with Craig in the studio. It's going to be an exciting couple of months!

On Dec. 3rd, Scott Brown of "Trooper" fame, graciously took time out of his schedule to lead a mentoring session for the Victoria Idol top 10 contestants.
Scott was joined by A-Channel News, Strategic Insanity and The Times Colonist, who were all on hand to document the event.
A great piece was run on A-News, featuring Noa Southcott and Megan Johns performing for Scott and the media. Craig Fraser from Oakstone was also a part of the segment.
Another 2 elimination shows are whittling down the contestants.
It's getting tougher for the judges since all the remaining singers have so much talent!
Who will be eliminated this week?
On October 6th, the first formal elimination round of Idol blew the doors off of the North Douglas Church!
A large crowd turned out to support the contestants and many wonderful performances graced the stage.
The judges were more demanding on the performers and some excellent critiques were offered.
10 of the 15 contestants made it through to the next round.
The second half of the first round eliminations takes place on Tuesday October 13th, also at the North Douglas Church.
It is my honor to be asked to judge this year's competition. I will be judging the Idol contestants on the following dates:
Sept. 26
Oct. 6
Nov. 3
Nov. 24
Jan. 12
Come down and check out the amazing talent and support your local artists!
I will be on hand at all Idol events, so feel free to come by and say hi.
I'll be glad to answer any and all questions you have about Idol and our work at OakStone Sound. See you there!
